St. Peters To Host Annual Gateway Games

ST. PETERS, MO. (KTVI) – The Disabled Athletes Sports Association will be hosting its annual Gateway Game Competition in St. Peters this weekend.  The competition will be held on May 18th and 19th at the St. Peters Rec Plex and St. Charles West High School.

Competitions will be held in field & track, swimming and archery.

Athletes from across the Midwest will be competing to qualify for The National Junior Disability Championships, to be later this summer.

Old Time Picnic Planned For Children At Old State Capitol

ST. CHARLES, MO. (KTVI) – Missouri State Parks will host an old time picnic for children at the state’s first capital in St. Charles, Missouri on Saturday, May 18th from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.  Visitors will be transported back in time to an era when children had three-legged sack races, egg on a spoon relays, milk bottle ring and bean bag toss and finding a needle in a hay stack.

The event will also feature watermelon seed spitting contest, horseshoe throwing and pie baking.

The old capitol is located at 200 South Main Street in St. Charles.

Lake St. Louis To Host Memorial Day Observance

LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO. (KTVI) – The City of Lake St. Louis will be holding a Memorial Day observance on Monday, May 27th at 11:00 am.  The memorial will be held at the Lake St. Louis Veteran’s Memorial Park, next to the city hall, at I-64 and Lake St. Louis Boulevard.

The ceremony is open to the public and free of charge.  Seating is limited and the public is urged to bring their own lawn chairs.

As part of the ceremony to honor the nation’s war dead, the public will be offered the opportunity to support the memorial park by purchasing commemorative bricks and special U.S. POW/MIA flag photo.

Wentzville Board Asks for More Discussion on Parks Funding

Last month, members of the Wentzville Board of Aldermen were surprised to find out that money generated from the 1/2 cent parks sales tax was not being kept in a separate fund.

On Wednesday night, the board asked for further discussion of the subject after approving a contract to outsource the city's pool management services and being asked to approve a $22,000 transfer from the general fund to cover those costs.

Annexation Could Bring CVS Pharmacy to Wentzville

The Wentzville Board of Aldermen tabled the first reading of a bill Wednesday night to voluntarily annex a 3-acre piece of farm property on Wentzville Parkway. The annexation would clear the way for a new CVS Pharmacy to be built at that location.

The parcel was subdivided from a larger piece of property that lies in unincorporated St. Charles County, although it is surrounded by the City of Wentzville.

Wentzville Participants Needed in National Effort to Honor Fallen Vets

On Nov. 11, Veterans Day, several residents of Wentzville are hosting an event to support  The Reading of the Fallen, which has been organized nationwide by the veterans group The Fight Continues. The reading will be from noon to 3 p.m. in the parking lot of the Wentzville Law Enforcement Center.
