Old Time Picnic Planned For Children At Old State Capitol

ST. CHARLES, MO. (KTVI) – Missouri State Parks will host an old time picnic for children at the state’s first capital in St. Charles, Missouri on Saturday, May 18th from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.  Visitors will be transported back in time to an era when children had three-legged sack races, egg on a spoon relays, milk bottle ring and bean bag toss and finding a needle in a hay stack.

The event will also feature watermelon seed spitting contest, horseshoe throwing and pie baking.

The old capitol is located at 200 South Main Street in St. Charles.

Friday Night Concert Series At The St. Louis Zoo Schedule

ST. LOUIS, MO. (KTVI) – The 2013 Friday night concert series at the St. Louis Zoo has been released.  The concert series is slated to start on Friday, May 24 at 5:00 pm.  The series will go from May 24th to August 30th at the zoo.

All of the concerts are free to the public and go from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Concerts will be located in the Schnuck Family Plaza, in the center of the zoo.

Lake St. Louis To Host Memorial Day Observance

LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO. (KTVI) – The City of Lake St. Louis will be holding a Memorial Day observance on Monday, May 27th at 11:00 am.  The memorial will be held at the Lake St. Louis Veteran’s Memorial Park, next to the city hall, at I-64 and Lake St. Louis Boulevard.

The ceremony is open to the public and free of charge.  Seating is limited and the public is urged to bring their own lawn chairs.

As part of the ceremony to honor the nation’s war dead, the public will be offered the opportunity to support the memorial park by purchasing commemorative bricks and special U.S. POW/MIA flag photo.

New Liquor Law Fails to Pass Board of Aldermen

A bill to prohibit drinking by anyone in a car—passengers as well as the driver—couldn't get enough votes for approval at last week's Wentzville Board of Aldermen meeting.

Even though more aldermen were for the bill than against it, the new liquor ordinance needed four votes to become law, and only three aldermen cast that necessary "aye": Ward 1 Alderman Forrest Gossett, Ward 2 Aldermen Chris Gard and Ward 2 Alderman Sonya Shryock.

Rock-N-Roll Up Your Sleeve Blood Drive in Lake Saint Louis

The Lake Saint Louis Police Department and the Lake Saint Louis Fire Protection District are teaming up to save lives by sponsoring a blood drive on Thursday, July 19th from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Lake Saint Louis Civic Center Council Chambers, 200 Civic Center Drive.

As part of the Red Cross’ Rock-N-Roll Up Your Sleeve campaign, all presenting donors will receive a rock-and-roll themed t-shirt and will be eligible to win a Gibson guitar, courtesy of The Gibson Foundation.

Dr. Lester Schmucker, World War II veteran and longtime resident of Wentzville, will serve as Grand Marshal for Wentzville’s upcoming Independence Day Parade, which will feature the theme Hats off to Our Heroes.

The parade’s theme is designed to honor and salute our country’s past and present heroes and the sacrifices they made to purchase the liberties we enjoy.
