St. Peters Rec-Plex New Year’s Eve Lock-In

Kids can have a ball … and a pool, and an ice skating rink, and fun games, and more all night long at the St. Peters Rec-Plex’s New Year’s Eve Lock-in. The chaperoned lock-in for kids ages 8-13 begins at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011. Participants may play at the Rec-Plex until as late as 7 a.m. on New Year’s Day.

Basketball, ice skating, swimming, diving, games and other activities will keep kids busy throughout the event. The Rec-Plex swimming pools include a waterslide, current channel, water play features and diving boards. The Lock-in will be fully staffed, including lifeguards in the pool area. Everyone will ring in the New Year with a midnight balloon drop. Kids can bring pillows and sleeping bags to sleep during the event.

Holiday Open Golf Tournament Moved to Dec. 17

The Holiday Open scramble golf tournament originally planned for Dec. 3, 2011, at St. Peters Golf Course has been rescheduled for Saturday, Dec. 17.

Teams of four people will compete for cash prizes in multiple flights, as well as closest to the pin and longest drive contests. The 18-hole tournament begins with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. The cost to play is $35/player, which includes golf, a cart, and lunch immediately following the tournament. Compete in an optional cash skins game for an additional $40 per team.

Sounds of the Season at St. Charles County Heritage Museum

The St. Charles County Parks Department is hosting the Sounds of the Season at St. Charles County Heritage Museum, from 3 - 6 p.m., on Sunday, Dec. 4, at the County Heritage Museum (1630 Heritage Landing in St. Peters).

Come in out of the cold, sip a cup of hot apple cider, and enjoy an afternoon of inspiring music, all while touring the beautiful FREE Museum. The first 100 guests will receive a free holiday ornament.

Musical performances include:
• Greenleaf Singers from 3 – 4 p.m.
• Four Winds Consort from 4 – 4:30 p.m.
• City Voices Chorus Singers from 4:30 – 5 p.m.
• St. Louis Christmas Carols Association from 5 – 5:30 pm.
• St. Charles Community Singers from 5:30 – 6 p.m.

The current Museum displays depict the German immigrants who settled St. Charles County in the early 1800s, as well as the rich history of the home.

Santa might have to put away his golf clubs to prepare for his busy season, but that doesn’t mean you can’t treat yourself to one more golf tournament before the holidays.

Try your hand at the 18-hole Holiday Open scramble golf tournament on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, at St. Peters Golf Course. Warm up afterward with a complimentary meal inside the clubhouse.

St. Peters Annual Tree Lighting

The public is invited to the St. Peters City Hall and Cultural Arts Centre for the City’s annual Tree Lighting ceremony on Friday evening, Nov. 18, at St. Peters City Hall. The annual event begins the holiday season in St. Peters and will once again provide holiday entertainment from talented local groups. The event begins at 6 p.m. and is FREE and open to the public.

“This is always such a fantastic community event, enjoyed by so many people each year!” said Mayor Len Pagano. ”I always look forward to the smiles and laughter at the Tree Lighting ceremony, where people of all ages can share a joyous evening together before the hustle and bustle of the holiday season.”

St. Peters to Host Annual Veterans Day Program

St. Peters to Host Annual Veterans Day Program
At 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 11, the City will host a ceremony honoring all veterans. The event will be held at the Veterans Memorial at City Centre, Mexico Road and St. Peters Centre Blvd. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held indoots.

Speaking at the event will be Retired Captain Robert Karle Panke, U.S. Air Force.

St. Peters Len Pagano said, “We owe a lot to our veterans. I hope you will join us at the Veterans Memorial to pay tribute to these brave men and women.”

Francis Howell North All-Knighter 3rd Annual Craft Fair

Francis Howell North High School will hold it's third annual "All-Knighter Holiday" craft fair from 9am-4pm, Saturday, Novemer 12th to raise money for the school's drug and alcohol free all-night lock-in graduation celebration.

Sponsored by the 2012 All-Knighter Francis Howell Parent Committee, the event will take place at 2549 Hackman Rd in St Charles. The event will feature 132 booths of talented and committed artists, crafters, and vendors. Concessions will be offered along with a bake sale.

"As parents we are throwing this graduation party not only to show our graduating senior class that we are proud of them but also to keep them safe on what statistically can be the most dangerous night of the year," said Event Chair Yvette Pilkington, "We want to see them safely celebrate what can be viewed as their greatest accomplishment in their lives thus far, in an alcohol and drug free environment while having the time of their lives."
